The Best Places In The World For Holiday Shopping

We all love shopping, right? And surely there is no one out there that doesn’t love holidays, either? Put them together, and you have a match made in heaven, in my opinion. While lazing away on a beach is a firm favourite for most people I know, having the chance to shop in some of the great cities of the world isn’t too far behind. With this in mind, I thought I would take you through some of the greatest destinations for shopping in the world today - let’s take a closer look.

New York

I know plenty of people that head over to New York purely for the shopping experience at Christmas time. While they can often spend a fortune, they come back with some genuine bargains - a lot of clothing and electronics is so much cheaper over there than here! Fifth Avenue, the Time Warner Centre, and SoHo for its incredible boutiques are all worth checking out. Just make sure you are diligent with everything you need before you go. According to https://www.official-esta.com/, you will need a visa to get into America, or you will be turned away before you get into the country. Don't forget yours or it will be the most expensive shopping trip you have ever taken, and you will still come home with nothing!

Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a gateway between east and west - and if you want to pick up some spectacular goods that you won't find anywhere else, it’s the perfect place. And the great thing about it is, like New York, it can be magical whatever time of year you go. According to https://www.lonelyplanet.com/, you should check out Langham Place, and ensure you visit the Jade Market, where you will find all kinds of super cool vintage and artisan wares.

Of course, you need a serious budget for going to New York or Hong Kong. But what about somewhere a bit closer to home? Madrid is an incredible city, full of atmosphere and a hugely varied range of shopping options. Plenty of well-known brands are based there, too, such as MANGO and Zara, so expect to get plenty of bargains. If you head out on a Sunday, make sure you go to El Rastro - it’s an amazing flea market that is perfect for exploring and buying everything from vintage gear to homemade crafts.

How can I not include my own capital - London has one of the best reputations in the world for shopping opportunities, too. It has everything there that you might need, from the luxury goods and sheer experience of Harrods to the fantastic Southbank Centre Christmas Market in Westminster. Another great thing about London is that if you are prepared to go off the beaten track a little, you will find plenty of tiny, hidden shops that sell incredible things, whether you are looking for food, new jewellery or something nice to wear for the weekend.

What’s your favourite city for shopping? Why not share your thoughts with everyone else in the comments section below this post!
